Our Story
Moonlight Productions NYC was built on a simple, radical belief:
Creativity does not expire.
In 2018, we began bringing consistent creative arts programming into older adult centers across Staten Island. What started as weekly classes quickly became something larger than instruction. It became community. It became confidence. It became a stage where voices that had been quiet for decades were heard again.
Since then, Moonlight has delivered over 10,000 hours of arts education to the senior community. Every week, in centers from Mount Loretto to West Brighton, rooms fill with storytelling, improvisation, music, movement, and laughter. Participants explore acting, scene study, creative writing, and visual arts. They move. They remember. They create.
We do not treat our older adults as spectators.
We treat them as artists.
From those classrooms emerged full theatrical productions — original stage works written, produced, and performed by senior artists. Shows like Inside Christmas, The Key, and Sail Away transformed community spaces into performance venues and reminded audiences that artistic excellence has no age limit.
As our work expanded, so did our reach.
Moonlight began partnering with organizations serving individuals with disabilities, bringing inclusive theatre programming to communities often overlooked in traditional arts spaces. Through collaborations with Lifestyles for the Disabled, Person Centered Care Services, City Access New York, OPWDD, and others, participants have written original musicals, performed for audiences of 100+, and taken the stage at venues such as the historic St. George Theatre.
Every program is designed with intention. Curriculum is adapted to support physical, cognitive, emotional, and social needs. We create environments where individuals of all abilities are challenged, supported, and celebrated.
